EVERYTHING IS TRUE – NOTHING IS PERMITTED

On 7 March, Steven Cohen presented 𝘛𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 at Brutus, Rotterdam as a part of the major group exhibition, EVERYTHING IS TRUE – NOTHING IS PERMITTED.

The artist writes:
‘Taste is a re-developed vintage performance art work which I began in 1999. The work was developed in response to my participation in a group art therapy course with other contemporary artists for eight weeks.
Therapy is about integrating all aspects of the self, from the most noble to the shittiest. ‘Taste also questions what is fashionable, sanitised, desirable … versus what is not; the unattractive, the abject!’

Steven’s video works 𝘊𝘖𝘘/𝘊𝘖𝘊𝘒 and 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 (an excerpt from 𝘊𝘌𝘔𝘌𝘛𝘌𝘙𝘠, 2022), as well as a wallpaper of portraits can still be seen at Brutus until 15 June.
